**Who are we looking for?**

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Statistics to join School of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science, Academic Division.

The School of Mathematical Sciences is seeking to recruit a talented researcher in applied and computational statistics to develop novel methods in Bayesian design and inference to advance data collection processes in ecology.

The School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) is a vibrant, multidisciplinary school with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of statistics, operations research and applied and computational mathematics.

There are currently 29 full-time academic staff members employed in the School, including 12 Professors.

Over the past five years staff of the school have held ten prestigious Australian Research Council fellowships including a Laureate fellowship, four ARC Discovery Early Career fellowships and five Future fellowships. Three of our professors are recognised among Australia's seven most highly cited researchers in mathematics, and QUT’s Centre for Data Science is led by a Fellow of both the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Social Sciences.

The School offers Bachelor degrees in both Mathematics and Data Science, as well as a postgraduate program at Masters (research) and PhD levels. The Bachelor of Mathematics degree has majors in our three key areas of expertise; Statistics, Operations Research and Applied and Computational Mathematics.

You will demonstrate:

- Completion of a doctoral qualification in statistics or similar discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in Bayesian statistics and/or experimental design.
- Demonstrated academic research experience evidenced by publications in high quality research journals.
- Strong computing skills including experience using high performance computing facilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to connect and collaborate with colleagues in a team environment, internal and external stakeholders, and the wider research community.
- Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, including effectively presenting to diverse audiences.
- Potential or demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree students effectively.
