**About the Role**
The position of Research Assistant is a 12 month fixed-term contract position within the Department of Physiotherapy, School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Science, The University of Melbourne. Qualified physiotherapists, occupational therapist, and allied health assistants with at least 3 years of experience working with people with neurological conditions will be considered for the position.
The role of the Research Assistant is to work on research in the area of stroke rehabilitation. The person will work directly with A/Professor Kate Hayward (physiotherapist) and Dr Emily Dalton (occupational therapist).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to ongoing and future stroke research projects, in particular the UPLIFT (UPper limb and Language Impairment and Functional Training) and the DOSE-UP (DOSE ranging in UPper limb rehabilitation after stroke) stroke recovery trials
- Delivering therapy to people recruited to stroke recovery trials, as well as contributing to screening and recruitment of potential research participants
- Communicating with participants, scheduling assessments and intervention sessions
**Who We Are Looking For**
You will have a minimum of three years of clinical experience working with individuals with neurological conditions, along with strong communication skills that enable effective interaction with various stakeholders. Your proficiency in digital tools, including Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, supports your ability to work efficiently in diverse settings.
You will also have:
- Current Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy registration with the Allied Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance
- Strong commitment to the highest scientific and ethical integrity standards and the ability to strictly adhere to study protocols
- Ideally, demonstrated experience in research project management especially clinical trials, including recruitment of participants and collection of study data
