The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Division and Branches**:
Partnerships, Policy and Capability Division forms part of the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre, which protects Australia’s critical infrastructure against ‘all hazards’, such as unlawful interference (including terrorism), cyber-attacks, supply chain risks and natural hazards. The Division is responsible for the security of the transport sectors, including aviation, maritime and offshore oil and gas and leads industry engagement and reforms in relation to all critical infrastructure sectors. The work of the Division is diverse and dynamic and includes:

- Designing the Centre’s future operating model and funding arrangements
- Leading strategic reforms to uplift transport security, including improving standards for aviation and maritime passenger and baggage screening and enhancing cyber security
- Ensuring Australia meets its international civil aviation and maritime obligations, and collaborating with international partners
- Preventing terrorist and serious crime infiltration at airports and seaports, through the aviation and maritime security identification card schemes and strengthening the schemes through the introduction of criminal intelligence assessments
- Designing industry capability and maturity assessment frameworks, and implementing existing capability initiatives such as the Screener Accreditation Scheme
- Uplifting regional security through our transport security international capacity building programme, which includes our offshore network in South-East Asia
- Strengthening the protection of all critical infrastructure through legislative reforms, policies and guidance and delivering the Critical Infrastructure Resilience Strategy
- Driving two way collaboration and co-design of policy initiatives through industry forums.
