No day is the same at FRDC with around 400 active Research, Development and Extension (RD&E) projects to deliver our 5-year strategic R&D Plan (2020-25). The new role of
**Graduate Officer** has been created to help us strengthen the RD&E workforce through diversification, particularly for persons from Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, and to provide opportunity for entry into RD&E management.

**The Role**
The
**Graduate Officer**, a 12-month contract will be either Adelaide or Canberra-based, with a primary focus on engaging with stakeholders across the sector and overseeing RD&E projects from beginning to end.

This is an opportunity to learn about fishing and aquaculture, the FRDC's R&D plan and future vision and what FRDC is all about. We think choice and development are important, so you will have the opportunity to select RD&E projects to focus on during your time with us

The positions tasks will include but are not limited to:

- Participating in creating priorities and projects through consultation and engagement
- Basic 101 project management and setting up a project for success
- Meeting and working closely with project stakeholders, end users and FRDC staff
- Establishing and attending project meetings, communication, and correspondence
- Connecting with industry through attending events, visiting project sites, meeting end users and understanding their needs, drivers, and experiences
- Creating communication materials and resources

The position offers a genuine graduate opportunity to work and shadow with fellow FRDC team members, learn about fishing and aquaculture and be mentored and coached on project management and stakeholder engagement.
