West End State School is a large, inner-city, primary school catering for students from Prep to Year 6. Our student enrolment of over 1400 continues to increase each year with infrastructure to match. Established in 1875, we take great pride in our history and boast many multi-generational families in our school community. About the Role
This Deputy Principal will be the 5th in the West End State School Senior Leadership Team and will require strong knowledge of Early Years curriculum and pedagogy (including Age Appropriate Pedagogies).The successful applicant will play a vital role in delivering the strategic vision of the school and improving the educational outcomes of students.
The Deputy Principal has a major influence on developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders. In addition, they will be responsible for the line management of our Years 1 and 2 cohorts, which include approximately 20 staff and 350 students and their families.
As the Deputy Principal you will have responsibility for the following:

- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
- Manage resources to achieve goals.
