- Our client is one of the largest insurance groups in Australia and an employer of choice. They offer excellent flexibility including hybrid working model (2 days office/3 days home) and have superb culture within their finance team.
- Due to an internal secondment they have an opportunity for a senior finance manager or controller from an insurance background to join on an initial 12 month fixed term contract. Reporting into the GM Financial Control you will lead a small team of senior accountants in delivering all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements as well as driving various finance projects and initiatives.
- Specific deliverables will include:
- Ensure accurate preparation, completion and review of the Group’s reporting requirements, including managing all relevant stakeholders throughout the process.
- Drive process simplification and optimisation and continuously assess for opportunities for efficiencies & improvements in the reporting processes
- Identify root cause of issues, propose solutions and lead activities related to simplification opportunities and process improvements, influence related stakeholders and ensure effective implementation of changes
- Develops the understanding others have in relation to the required accounting standard changes through active coaching and sharing of technical knowledge in such a way as to make it relevant and clear for team members and business colleagues
- Prepare accounting papers and recommend reporting treatment for complex transactions
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with the external auditor to constructively support their review of the Group’s accounting policies
- Provide oversight of work performed by more junior members in the team, provide ongoing coaching and training.
