**What this opportunity involves**:
JLL has a target to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2040 with no more than 5% offsets. We are one of only seven companies to have our net-zero carbon target certified to the Science Based Targets initiative’s Net-Zero Standard.
Reporting to the ESG Lead for Sourcing and Procurement in APAC, the Environment Lead role will help pioneer JLL’s approach to client supply chain emissions, including improving our data, setting greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets and defining an engagement program for suppliers. The role will play a crucial role in driving environmental performance in supply chains, working closely with JLL business partners, our clients and suppliers.
The Environment Lead will join the Global ESG Sourcing and Procurement (S&P) Team with team members based in Sydney, Amsterdam, London and Boston. The Global ESG team has a fantastic opportunity to embed ESG into annual procurement spend of ~$12.4 billion for JLL’s clients and corporate operations.
**About the role**:
Collaborate with the global ESG team and internal business partners to align environmental initiatives and to drive consistency across regions.
Collect, analyse, and present greenhouse gas emissions data and environmental performance against JLL and client net zero targets.
Contribute to developing a global approach and assessing the environmental footprint of procured goods and services.
Identify and implement supply chain decarbonisation and emission reduction strategies. Provide regular updates to suppliers as a part of the Supplier Relationship Management process.
Advise internal business partners, suppliers and clients on supply chain best practices, regulations, and industry trends related to climate change, decarbonisation, greenhouse gas emissions accounting and waste management.
Draft and implement the environmental aspects of ESG Standards for key categories such as Cleaning, Waste and Food and Hospitality.
Supporting data collection and supplier compliance with ESG Standards.
Contribution to evolution of JLL’s ‘ESG requirements for suppliers’, which set out expectations for suppliers around carbon, waste and other ESG areas.
Build and maintain relationships with relevant external stakeholders, including industry associations, and suppliers.
Attend and speak at environmental sourcing events internally and externally.
Provide environmental training and awareness programs to internal teams and suppliers.
Collaborate in business development activities by providing environmental expertise and participating in presentations.
Delivering responsibilities across the Asia Pacific region, in collaboration with regional Sourcing and Procurement representatives.
University Degree in Science, Engineering, Sustainability or related fields with 7 to 10 years’ experience in environment and climate change.
Ability to drive ESG results internally with the Sourcing and Procurement team, client accounts, and externally with suppliers and clients.
Experience in developing and implementing environmental initiatives for the supply chain within a large organisation or real estate portfolio.
Knowledge of industry best practices and standards for carbon accounting, such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard, and the ISO 14064.
Desirable experience in conducting lifecycle assessments (LCAs). Proficiency in LCA software such as SimaPro, GaBi, or Open LCA is considered a plus.
Have technical expertise in scope 3 emissions Category 1 - Purchased Goods and Services. Demonstrate a proven track record in accurately calculating, reporting, and managing Scope 3 emissions associated with this category.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of carbon accounting and reduction principles, including greenhouse gases, decarbonization strategies, and carbon offsetting mechanisms.
Solid data management and data analytics skills
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects with competing timelines.
Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to influence and to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team.
