P&C has the ability and experience to undertake projects from concept to detailed design, including: procurement; construction and commissioning support; and operator training.

**About the Role**

This position is responsible for assisting the laboratory manager with running and growing the laboratory with tasks such as:
Receiving, cataloguing, handling and preparing testwork samples

Keeping the workshop and testing areas clean and tidy

Undertaking laboratory maintenance tasks such as equipment calibration, repair, etc.

Independently planning and executing test work campaigns inclusive of testing, data capture and analysis, reporting, etc.

Adding to the suite of services the laboratory offers by making use of the knowledge gained from their studies and past work experience.

Winning repeat work with existing clients through exceeding clients expectations.

Winning new work through past and newly developed industry contacts.

**Role Requirements**
- Required Qualifications_

Undergraduate degree in chemistry or material sciences
- Desired Qualifications _

Post graduate degree in chemistry or material sciences
- Required Work Experience_

At least six years of laboratory work experience
- Desired Work Experience_

5 years’ laboratory work in the mining industry with tailings or concentrate slurries
- Required Skills_

Excellent computer literacy skills including with MS Office package software such as as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Strong general workshop and tool handling skills

Excellent safety awareness and vigilance

Excellent cleanliness and housekeeping
- Desired Skills_

Experience in conducting the following tests:
Rheology on slurry samples

Particle Size Distribution (PSD) by wet sieving or Particle Size Analysis

Specific gravity using both water pycnometry and Helium pycnometry

Operating a light microscope for taking pictures of soil/rock

Static and dynamic settling

Transportable Moisture Limit (TML)

Pressure and vacuum filtration

Atterberg limits

Consolidation with a Rowe cell

Shrinkage limits

Permeability with the falling head method

Proctor bulk density

Unconfined compressive strength testing

Pipe loop tests on slurry samples

Accelerated comparative wear tests
