**As a Manager, Human Resource, you will specifically**:
- Lead and manage the delivery of both strategic and operationally focussed human resource services for the Wacol Youth Remand Centre (WYRC). This includes the provision of the following functions in collaboration with Corporate Services where required: - Coordinate activities and provide advice relevant to recruitment and selection processes, induction programs and workforce planning;
- Participate in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of training and development programs, including mentoring and coaching systems and competency based training for staff consistent with organisational strategy;
- Manage rostering and payroll functions and contribute to the establishment management monitoring and processes;
- Oversee the safety functions including audits, inspections and reporting requirements in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. Provide advice, coaching and support to delegates on the management of performance, conduct, attendance, and change management matters;
- Contribute to the case management of disciplines, suspensions, grievances, appeals, disputes and unfair dismissals, and appear as an industrial advocate in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission and relevant tribunals. Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve quality service delivery outcomes, including collaboration with Cor Services, other government agencies, unions, and external service providers. Manage the financial, physical and human resources of the Human Resources team, including the provision of effective guidance, supervision and development of staff to deliver on team functions. Participate as an effective member of the WYRC management team in the development, promotion and implementation of the department's strategic direction, and each YDC's Operational Plans. Undertake complex ad-hoc projects and research, and provide advice and analysis on HR issues and strategies for continuous improvement to the relevant YDC management team. Prepare and coordinate submissions, reports, briefs and other high quality correspondence relating to a range of complex human resource issues, and represent the YDCs at meetings as required.
