**About the Role**:
Cyber Security NSW are seeking a manager to lead the Cyber Incident Response team in the strategic technical response to cyber security challenges and risks across the NSW Government. This role is responsible for strengthening the government’s cyber security posture through expert technical advice, incident response leadership,and cross-government coordination.
In this role, you will manage agency support during reportable incidents, maintain knowledge of issues and resolutions, and provide insights on emerging risks and trends. Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential to collaborate, and support coordinated decision-making and incident management across NSW Government.
The role includes an on-call responsibilities and may require work outside standard hours during cyber incidents. It demands solid expertise in cyber security frameworks, risk management, and incident response best practices, with flexibility and responsiveness being essential qualities.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Lead at team to deliver the review and refresh on the existing Incident Management Plan
- Lead and manage support to NSW Government agencies impacted by a cyber incident and ensure all relevant internal plans and procedures are in place to coordinate response across all-of-government.
- Establish the rostering cohort and framework to ensure constant and consistent coverage per operational needs.
- Lead and manage technical assessments of information and cyber security controls, vulnerabilities and recommended actions for internal teams and relevant stakeholders in relation to significant cyber incidents or crises.
- Investigate and assess security breaches (within a defined area of responsibility) to maintain compliance with all-of-government cyber security policies and standards.
- Provide technical expertise and lead the Cyber Security NSW technical incident response capability in response to significant cyber incidents and crises.
- Contribute technical expertise to reporting on current and emerging cyber security risks and trends.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders (internal and external) to foster collaboration, the exchange of information and informed decision-making during a significant cyber incident or crisis.
**About Cyber Security NSW Branch**:
The Cyber Security NSW is a whole-of-government function located within Digital.NSW in the Department of Customer Service. We are responsible for ensuring a cyber safe NSW. The protection of our systems and digital information is vital because of the many essential services NSW Government provides including health, emergency services, and transport. Furthermore, the exciting digital transformation being undertaken across NSW Government requires similarly enhanced cyber security capabilities.
At the centre of this exciting and growing cyber capability, Cyber Security NSW is working across NSW Government to:
- Create a whole-of-government integrated approach to managing cyber risk and responding to cyber security threats
- Increase cyber skills and awareness
- Understand the risks from cyber threats to our digital information and systems
- Set cyber security standards
- Ensure we are prepared if a damaging cyber incident occurs
About You (Essential Requirements of the Role):
To be successful in the role you will:
- Ability to participate in an on-call roster and work outside standard hours, including weekends and public holidays, in response to major or significant cyber incidents.
- Stay informed about the constantly changing NSW cyber security landscape, including emerging threats, vulnerabilities and governmental policies. This involves continuous monitoring and analysis to effectively safeguard information, assets and services against potential breaches and disruptions.
- Deliver comprehensive oversight and strategic value in cyber security endeavours within an all-of-Government framework, while also enhancing collaboration, coordination and synergy among NSW Government agencies to bolster cyber resilience and response capabilities.
- Balance competing priorities and deliverables, ensuring timely completion of tasks while maintaining quality outputs amidst competing commitments and promptly responding to emerging challenges
