About the Role

The Virtual Power Plant operations team is responsible for managing and growing AGL’s multi-asset Virtual Power Plant.

AGL’s VPP incorporates a variety of assets, from batteries in homes to backup generators for major commercial & industrial customers as well as large distribution-scale batteries. The team operates these assets to create value, through participation in energy markets and other programs.

What you’ll be doing

The VPP analyst will support the growth and ongoing operations of the VPP. Reporting to the VPP Dispatch Operations Manager, the VPP analyst is responsible for:
- Actively supporting the dispatch of AGL’s multi-asset VPP (comprising both residential and C&I assets) to achieve AGL’s strategic priorities - you will be trained to operate the Virtual Power Plant- Coordinating assessment of opportunities, pricing, and wholesale market analysis to develop strategies, customer offers, and new products- Directly engaging with business customers by managing customer onboarding, data management, customer communications, event day dispatch, measurement and verification and settlements- Engaging with relevant internal and external stakeholders including the AGL Trading team, AEMO operations and Network operations- Informing the development of new or enhanced product propositions through a detailed understanding of business and customers’ needs

About You

What you’ll bring to the table

To be successful you’ll have to demonstrate the following:
- Strong business acumen, commercial skills, and ability to think strategically.- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships- Demonstrated interest in energy markets and policy, although no prior formal experience required- Basic understanding of various software tools and code languages (Python, SQL) highly regarded but not essential
