The First Peoples - State Relations Group is seeking talented and passionate individuals committed to progressing the Victorian Government's nation leading work with First Peoples.
This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.
As an Inspector, you will conduct proactive and reactive inspections throughout Victoria on compliance and enforcement of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, delivering outputs which may range from stakeholder education to penalty notices and directions.
You will work closely with Investigators, Authorised Officers and Aboriginal Heritage Officers to gather and handle evidence that may be used to build prosecution briefs.
About you
- experience in interpreting legislation, undertaking inspections and monitoring compliance, preferably in a regulatory environment
- experience in preparing written documents, such as reports, statements and correspondence that clearly and concisely conveys relevant information
- strong verbal, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Some travel across Victoria (including some overnight stays) is necessary to undertake this role. A current drivers licence is required.
