**The company**

Our client, SunRice is one of the largest rice food companies in the world and one of Australia's leading branded food exporters. SunRice is the consumer brand and trading name of ASX listed Ricegrowers Limited that has recorded revenues of A$1.1 billion.

They have a proud history which dates back to the establishment of a single rice mill in the Riverina region of New South Wales in 1950. Today they have operations - including state-of-the-art processing, packing and value added food plants - across Australia, the USA, Asia, the Middle East, the Pacific and Papua New Guinea.

Sustainability has always been a priority for SunRice, it is at the core of everything they do, since their earliest days, they have understood that their success depends on sustaining the health of the fields and the communities in which they operate around the globe.

**The role**

Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, the Head of Sustainability is responsible for the Sustainability Strategy, Risk, Governance, and Reporting, engaging at Board and Corporate Management Team (CMT) level, as well as across the organisation, to ensure sustainability leadership and alignment of these areas to the overarching business strategy and direction.

In addition to implementing the Board approved Sustainability Strategy in collaboration with senior level executives, group functions and business units across the group, the role will also have primary responsibility for ensuring appropriate governance is in place including adequate ESG reporting both internally and externally to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities include:

- Leading the Sustainability team and ensure the structure and capability within the team is well positioned to deliver the strategy.
- Presenting progress on SunRice’s Sustainability Program to CMT and when required the Board and its Committees
- Design, manage and implement sustainability initiatives and programs including responsibility for overseeing and providing technical support to the implementation of a sustainable and traceable supply chain management system
- In partnership with Corporate Affairs, manage and strengthen relevant stakeholder relationships with external bodies by representing SunRice in necessary forums (e.g. Investors, UNGC, GCNA, Sustainable Rice Platform, Bali Process )
- Assurance of internal systems and procedures relevant to sustainability e.g. materiality
- Collect, manage and analyse sustainability data (e.g., energy, water, charity, social impact etc.)

**About you**

In addition, you will possess the following;
- Tertiary qualifications in sustainability or a related field
- 6-10 years+ experience in a leading corporate sustainability/corporate responsibility role
- Extensive experience across multiple sustainability dimensions, including the community, people, environmental, energy waste and water, supply chain
- Strong understanding of sustainability and market trends preferably in the agricultural/food sector, including current and emerging sustainability issues for the sector
