Student Counsellor

The Student Counsellor provides individual, group, educational and preventative programs which aim to enhance academic performance, assist resilience and overcome personal difficulties which may impede academic success. The Student Counsellor works closely with the Academic Success Team, Student Experience Officers and other staff teams to meet these goals.
The Student Counsellor aids students across a broad range of areas including;
- Counselling
- Welfare support, including for International Students who are under 18
- Disability support in relation to academic reasonable adjustment plans
- Student advocacy support (such as assistance with academic and procedural rules, appeals, and other processes) and
- Mental health and wellbeing educational projects and engagement activities, including workshops and events (e.g.: mental health, stress management, coping with homesickness).
You will need to possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated experience utilising these in diverse cultural setting, and experience counselling and advising students in an educational environment.
**Qualifications**:
A Social Work or Psychology degree as well as eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum 5 years relevant experience in these areas.
