**About the company**:
Apiam Animal Health (Apiam) is one of Australia’s leading rural veterinary businesses made up of 70 business sites as part of a team of over 800 dedicated professionals. Apiam is made up of well-established vet clinics, production animal, and allied businesses and are spread Australia wide reaching into the heart of dairy, beef, sheep and pig country and the regional towns that are at their centre.
**The role**:
- Perform basic laboratory tasks under limited supervision
- Perform sample pick-ups from local veterinary clinics
- Perform sample receipt and data entry
- Answer client inquiries regarding sample receipt, transport and referral.
- Maintain records of laboratory accessions and test results
- Maintain stocks of laboratory consumables and preparing purchase orders
- Preparing the inventories, and maintaining the stock records using computerized systems
- Preparing the reports on adjustments done to inventories that may be damaged, spoilt, etc.,
- Find out sources of supply and is responsible for obtaining quotes from the suppliers as well.
- Maintain laboratory equipment in a clean serviceable condition
- Decontaminate the laboratory benches and equipment on a regular basis and maintain the laboratory as a safe working environment
**Required Skills**:
- Ability to perform routine duties in a veterinary or medical laboratory
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to perform written and verbal reporting of results to more senior staff and to clients
- Ability to understand the procedures for the safe handling of microbiologically and chemically hazardous materials
