**About the role**
This role supports the achievement of the Wyndham 2040 strategy through active partnership across the organisation to support and continuously improve key risk and compliance information. The role also contributes to the development of the enterprise risk profile and supports project risk management across the organisation.

This is a pivotal role supporting the delivery of the Council’s Strategic Internal Audit Plan. You’ll also act as the key liaison between Council’s business units and our internal audit service provider, supporting end-to-end audits, coordination and implementation of audit recommendations, and validating action completion. Additionally, you’ll provide critical support to the Audit and Risk Committee, assisting with preparation, coordination, and communication.

**What your day will look like**
- Coordinating internal audit activities, acting as a bridge between the internal audit service provider and Council teams, including planning, fieldwork support, tracking recommendations, and assessing control impacts.
- Drafting insightful reports and presentations for senior management and the Audit and Risk Committee using data and inputs from across the organisation.
- Supporting the delivery of quarterly Audit and Risk Committee meetings from compiling agendas, facilitating communication, minute-taking, and ensuring timely completion of action items.
- Participating in risk and compliance initiatives and supporting ongoing improvements across governance systems.
- Using your analytical mindset to help identify gaps in systems and processes, proposing practical solutions and assisting in implementing them.
- Building strong working relationships with stakeholders across all levels of Council, promoting a risk
- and compliance-aware culture through coaching, engagement, and communication.

**What you will bring**
- Demonstrated experience supporting internal audit functions, including planning, coordination, reporting, and liaising with auditors and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail and the ability to interpret risk and compliance data to drive insights and improvements.
- Excellent written communication skills, capable of drafting clear, structured reports, guidance documents, and committee papers tailored to executive and senior leadership audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage time effectively, prioritise competing tasks, and deliver high-quality outcomes within deadlines.
- A team-oriented mindset and a passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and building a resilient, high-performing organisation.
