**The Role**

You will develop, lead and deliver multi-year programs of prioritised analysis activities: understanding the Defence issues or decisions, ensuring the work programs meet Navy’s requirements and timelines and then communicating results with clarity and influence. You will create and lead teams: motivating staff to deliver quality and timely analysis, as well as developing staff skills, knowledge, experience and culture.

You will develop and maintain relationships: building strong partnerships with Defence colleagues, especially within Navy, collaborating across DSTG to enable the work program and building strong relationships with external partners, both domestic and international academia and industry.

This is a leadership role, where you will lead development of the data analytics capability within the Maritime Capability Analysis (MCA) Major Science and Technology Capability (MSTC), through developing staff skills, knowledge, tools and facilities.

**About our Team**
The MCA MSTC is within the Human and Decision Sciences Division of Defence Science and Technology Group. This position is in the Maritime Mathematical Sciences Group based in Eveleigh, Sydney.

This particular position directly supports Navy’s Maritime Warfare Centre, located at Garden Island (Sydney), in their mission to optimise and improve the warfighting effectiveness and lethality of maritime capability. In partnership with Navy, MCA uses analysis techniques and maritime domain knowledge to provide the objective evidence to help improve current operational effectiveness and develop future maritime capability.

The analysis techniques include Operations Research; mathematical modelling and computer simulation; data analytics and statistical analysis; Systems Engineering; and experimentation/war-gaming.
- Experience in developing, leading and delivering multi-year programs of analysis activities;
- A track record of creating and leading teams, motivating them in executing studies and reporting outcomes in a timely manner;
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with both civilian and military stakeholders; and
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills to manage stakeholder relationships, negotiate analysis requirements and deliver results with clarity and influence.
