What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader - Covert Analysis and Assurance Inspections and Reporting Team.
The Covert Analysis and Assurance (CAA) Inspections and Reporting Team Leader maintains responsibility for leading and managing a professional team that supports compliance, legislative reporting and the inspection of AFP activities by the Commonwealth Ombudsman and the Inspector General of Intelligence Security (IGIS), under the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth), Telecommunications Act 1997 (Cth), Surveillance Devices Act 2004 (Cth) and the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth).
What will you do?
This role is responsible for leading, managing and developing a team that delivers effective and robust operational and administrative support. The Team Leader role includes:
Facilitating legislative compliance inspections by the Commonwealth Ombudsman and IGIS
Managing inspection findings including review and response to inspection reports
Coordination of AFP undertakings made in response to inspection reports
Manage legislative reporting including annual reports and Ministerial reporting
Mentoring and developing members to build team capability by ensuring that a high level of knowledge is obtained and maintained
Provide valued input on the business area’s strategic vision that supports the AFP’s strategic direction
Developing strategies to appropriately balance and mitigate organisational risk
Evaluate, provide input and identify potential risk on emerging legislative reforms and policy by developing and drafting position papers analysing legislative and policy proposals
Demonstrated strong leadership during periods of change and under pressure
Business area representation at a high level with internal and external stakeholders
Communicating business area issues to executive
As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
Essential Requirements
Must be an Australian Citizen
A security clearance of Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) or the ability to obtain one.
Strong leadership skills.
Effective communication skills across mediums.
Desirable Requirements
Demonstrated ability to develop productive working relationships
Relevant tertiary qualifications
Positively influence and encourage a productive, harmonious working environment
Proficient use of AFP and computer based information systems to interrogate, collate and retrieve data for operational support.
A demonstrated working knowledge of relevant Commonwealth legislation.
