Advanced Family Carer Peer Worker

The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Advanced Family Carer Peer Worker - Identified Lived Experience (Head to Health Kids) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Work effectively and collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in accordance with peer work values and within scope of practice
- Provide direct carer peer support to carers, families and significant others by engaging in individual and group peer support, advocacy and education activities
- Facilitate relevant carer support and education groups, develop and deliver carer skills training and evaluate carer specific programs
- Actively mentor and support AO3 Carer Peer Workers

About you

**To be successful in this position you will require**:

- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be a person who identifies as a carer, having a personal lived/living experience of caring for a person with mental health issues who has used/is using mental health services. Must be able to draw on their lived experience to meet the key duties of the role
- While not mandatory, a Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work (Carer Elective chosen) or the ability to demonstrate that they are working towards certificate would be well regarded.
- Blue Card (GCH will cover cost)
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent full time
- Base salary ranging from $88 187- $97 157 per annum
