The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Advanced Peer Worker - Lived Experience (Identified) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Build safe, trusting relationships with consumers based on shared lived/living experience
- Work in collaboration with clinical team members to support all facets of care and support
- Utilise well developed communication and consultation skills to achieve best outcomes for consumers and their families
- Provide general feedback and advice to colleagues regarding consumer participation, recovery-oriented practice and strengths based practice

About you

**To be successful in this position you will require**:

- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, be a person with lived experience of mental illness, service use and recovery
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Stait Islander Community
- A lived/living experience of mental illness, service use and recovery and is able to use this experience to support others living with mental health and substance use challenges
- Experience working as a Peer Worker in a public mental health or alcohol and other drug service or the non-government sector is essential
- It is highly desirable that applicants hold a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or can demonstrate that they are working towards the same
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Salary
- Permanent part time (64 hrs per f.n.)
- Base salary ranging from $41.12 - $45.30 per hour

About Us
The Mental Health Crisis Stabilisation Facility provides consumers presenting with a mental health, alcohol and/or drug crisis/illness a safe, supportive environment for acute mental health assessment, treatment, and management, including a range of short term options tailored to meet individual needs. The core principles embedded in all aspects of this model of service includes trauma informed care, zero suicide, reduction in seclusion and restraint, and Integrated Mental Health and AODS interventions.
The Mental Health Crisis Stabilisation Facility will work closely in collaboration with the Mental Health Specialist Services, specifically the Mental Health Acute Care Team. Based at Robina.
