Universal Music Publishing Group now have an exciting opportunity Manager - Legal & Business Affairs to provide legal support for Universal Music Publishing Australia.

YOUR ROLE
- Providing legal services to various UMP departments including Commercial, A&R, Sync & Marketing, Finance & Administration and Production Music
- Assisting VP Commercial & Creative Development in concluding songwriter and catalogue agreements, joint ventures, acquisitions, re-negotiations and third party licensing and rights management transactions
- Managing disputes, litigation and day to day legal matters
- Maintaining UMP Australia’s active and current catalogues of songwriter agreements and managing extensions, renewals and re-negotiations as required
- Working with regional teams on intercompany agreements and global legal affairs matters
- Maintaining UMP’s pro forma documents in accordance with global UMP policies and directives and copyright laws

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor of Law degree with 3-5 years post-qualified experience as a legal practitioner within private practice, or as in-house counsel (ideally within the media, entertainment or technology related industries)
- Holds a current practising certificate valid in NSW
- A demonstrated understanding of copyright law particularly relating to the music business
- A demonstrated understanding of the music business in particular music publishing, recording and distribution
- Excellent drafting skills
- Experience managing and negotiating commercial contracts in particular music publishing agreements
- Experience in managing and negotiating licensing agreements including with audio visual content producers and social media platforms
- A demonstrated understanding of music rights management across all platforms
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
