We're looking for an experienced retail star to join the small but mighty team at Craft Victoria - delivering an outstanding visitor experience and providing support to Craft's organisational activities.

About Craft Victoria:
Craft Victoria is a leading arts organisation dedicated to supporting the production and presentation of contemporary craft and design. We champion Australian makers and designers via our rich program of exhibitions, festivals, talks, community events, and collaboration projects. As a membership-based not-for-profit organisation, we support makers’ professional development through online workshops, on-demand tutorials and public programs, as well as provide commercial opportunities for leading makers to explore professional practice and develop new bodies of work via our showcase space in the heart of Melbourne.

About the Position:

- Christmas casual - 20-25 hours per week, including Saturdays
- Must be available throughout December until 24th

The Retail and Gallery Assistant is a key role in a small, dynamic, and fast-paced team. The core objectives of this role are to deliver an outstanding visitation experience, generate gallery sales and provide administrative support to Craft’s organisational activities.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Welcome all visitors with enthusiasm and warmth
- Provide an outstanding visitation experience through the sharing of knowledge of the organisation, the makers, and their work
- Exceed client expectations through engaging and attentive gallery sales service, demonstrating knowledge of makers and available works
- Provide personalised client follow up, with thorough attention to detail
- Uphold excellent visual merchandising standards, ensuring sold works are replaced or restocked and all display areas are presented to the creative brief
- Process membership, public programs, retail, and gallery sales with accuracy and efficiency
- Prepare works for sale including entering, matching, and checking of invoices, orders, and returns to makers, into POS (Point of Sale) and eCommerce platform (shopify)

About You:
To be successful for this role the following experience, skills and attributes are essential:

- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and relationship management skills
- Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and generate sales
- Experience using POS and eCommerce platform (shopify) desirable
- Enthusiasm, positivity and a solutions-focused attitude
- Reliability and consistency are essential

Desirable but not essentials:

- Experience in working for a not-for-profit organisation
- Strong interest in art and design
- Available for immediate start
