Purpose of Role: The Buyer, prepares purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes for internal or external use. Ensure that Weir purchases have favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term formal contracts with suppliers. Managing and tracker vendor performance ensuring all vendors meet or exceed Weir standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing: Manages all purchasing, approves requisitions and provides monthly reports on the delivery performance for direct purchases. Prepares and places indirect and direct purchase orders, schedules deliveries, and follows up to expedite delivery and shipment as required to meet production, operations or customer requirements. Responsible for identifying alternate purchasing opportunities that will enhance product throughput and reduce inventory and cycle time for local purchasing
- Vendor management: Monitors parts, suppliers and commodities, supplier negotiations, RFQs/RFPs, pricing, service level, contract compliance, and new supplier/part set-up. Evaluates market trends, supplier performance and capabilities, and cross-site opportunities to reduce risk and optimise costs.
- Pricing: Manages short and long term pricing with external suppliers, balancing considerations for quality, JIT delivery, freight and payment terms to ensure the lowest total delivered cost.
- Stakeholder management: Liaise with stakeholders to update order progress details. Lead efforts to understand the root cause and develop corrective actions for system and process failures relating to ordering issues or system inefficiencies.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
- Relevant professional qualification in purchasing or supply chain with 3 year related experience in buying/procurement
- Oracle experience (preferred)
- Demonstrate initiative, takes responsibility and execute tasks through to completion (mandatory)
- Develop solid working relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure clear line of sight for business queries, technical issues
- High customer service orientation - help solve problems in an amicable way
