This exciting employment opportunity is ideal for someone with at least 4 years of experience in a technical, fabrication or engineering workshop and who is looking to step up to a leadership role.
As an individual, you are loyal and committed to your team, you understand the importance of the support provided to our stakeholders and you will ensure to commit to this role for the long term. Additionally, you will have excellent problem-solving skills, be highly organised, an effective communicator and have an eye for detail.
About The Position
Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager (Central Operations), the Technical Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and support for the activities that take place within the STEM College Workshop.
The Technical Coordinator will be responsible for managing a team of technical officers who are assigned to the Workshop, ensuring the technical team meets organisational and stakeholder expectations through the delivery of high quality, compliant, professional, timely service.
- developing productive working relationships with, not limited to, the STEM schools, College Office, RMIT Property Services Group, and HR OHS team.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
Proven knowledge, experience, and technical ability in workshop fabrication setting using common workshop equipment (e.g. lathes, mills, benders, linishers, welders, vacuum systems etc.).-
- Experience in the development of projects, advanced understanding of the safe operation of workshop equipment, and a good working knowledge of CAD, technical plans and drawings, and other design techniques and practices.-
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating technical support for teaching and research activities, including planning, scheduling, and supervising support to ensure that it meets required standards and set timelines.-
- Experience in successfully supervising or managing technical services and associated technical support staff.-
- Demonstrated knowledge of current OHS legislation, regulations, and standards with expertise in hazardous scenario management, and relevant experience in managing safe and compliant operations, preferably in a teaching and research environment.-
- Proven initiative and problem-solving skills and ability to organise, plan and manage complex tasks, work to deadlines, plan, effectively allocate resources, initiate and see activities through to completion, and evaluate and report on outcomes.-
- Highly organised with proven ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a pressured environment with limited direction, requiring flexibility and sound decision-making.-
- Effective oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively, both independently and within a team.-
- A strong service orientation with highly professional standards with, experience in providing prompt, proactive, high-level support and a demonstrated ability to deliver innovative and creative solutions.-
