**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

Position Description | WHS Business Partner - Assurance and Reporting Lead

The role reports to the WHS Manager and sits within the Wellbeing, Health and Safety Functions of the People, Safety
and Culture team. It is an opportunity for an analytically minded safety professional to join an energized and high
performing team and to lead WHS assurance functions and act as the safety conscience in a national organization.

**Primary Objectives**
The WHS Business Partner (North) will play a pivotal role in maturing the existing Safety Management Safety by
providing an effective assurance framework which supports the uplift of the organsiation’s safety management practices.

As a senior WHS representative, based at the NHVR head office, the position will play a key role in the assurance and
reporting of WHS activities to inform and facilitate effective decision making at all levels of the organisation.The
assurance activities and reporting will cultivate strong safety culture as well as provide direction, assurance and insights
of appropriate safety practices, and risk controls.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**:

- Actively build a safety culture and promote safety management activities within the organization where the
- management of critical risks becomes an organic part of day-to-day business.- Maintain the WHS Critical Risk Register and provide leadership and coaching to managers for the development of

WHS divisional operational registers to ensure they reflect the current WHS risks of the NHVR, the timely and
effective implementation of controls assuring risks are being managed within tolerances and reported.
- Assure that business leads use appropriate controls to manage identified critical risks and develop

testing/monitoring approaches to provide governance over these controls.
- Support, mentor, and upskill business leaders to better assess and manage WHS risk, including workshop facilitation

and training sessions in line with the NHVR safety management framework.
- Development of fit for purpose tools and work procedures and coach/train the leaders in the use and value of the

tools and assit them to embed the tools
- Lead consultation with HSR’s, committee’s and the NHVR on Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and

practices.
- Manage allocated projects to ensure critical safety projects are delivered in scope, on time, and in budget.
- Ownership of corporate safety tools including analysis, identification, and communication of WHS key performance

indicators, trends, and other data sources, in conjunction with key stakeholders, that results in the development of
actions and initiatives to drive organisational wellbeing, health and safety improvements.
