**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Head of Energy Markets, the Market Modeller will grow Squadron’s capability to analyse energy markets to support our growth strategy.

The principal responsibility of the Market Modeller is to maintain and operate modelling tools and provide forecasting and analysis to the business.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Implement and maintain energy market models and datasets across NEM/WEM and gas market
- Provide modelling and analysis to be used for investment decisions and portfolio optimisation including:

- wholesale price forecasts, grid congestion, MLF forecasts and curtailment factors, supply and demand forecasts, risk management and bidding strategy analysis.
- Research and monitor energy markets developments to maintain up-to-date view of market dynamics
- Provide support market analysis and insights into Australian energy markets under different energy market policy settings
- Prepare technical reports and communications materials for internal stakeholders

The role will work closely with Squadron Business Units - Renewables, Infrastructure and Services and Port Energy teams

**Qualifications**:
You hold a relevant tertiary qualification (finance, commerce, economics, engineering)

You have 2 to 5 years’ experience analysing and modelling energy markets.

You have at least 5 years of modelling experience.

You’re highly numerate and analytical with strong modelling and analysis skills.

You have excellent conceptual and critical thinking skills with a high capacity to deal with complex, multi-dimensional and ambiguous issues.

You’re experienced with PLEXOS power market modelling software and other modelling packages.

You have proven experience in power market analysis, particularly on development of scenarios, dispatch analysis, consideration of different revenue streams (e.g., capacity mechanisms, balancing and ancillary services markets, policy impact).

You have a good understanding of the commercial and technical attributes of generation and storage technologies.

You have knowledge of energy regulation, and specifically power market regulation in NEM/WEM.

You have exposure to project development of renewable assets, and/or financial analysis of renewable assets advantageous.
