**About Metro ISS**

At Metro ISS we support children and young people aged 12-17 years who are in statutory out of home care and live with high and complex care needs.

No two days are ever the same. We are a dynamic unit who takes pride in working with and achieving positive outcomes for children and their families. Your caseworkers are part of a multidisciplinary team working alongside DCJ Psychologists and the Elver Program.

**The work of Metro ISS**

Metro ISS caseworkers provide intensive and long-term case management with children and young people whose trauma experiences have impacted their development and mental health. Casework interventions focus on enhancing safety and wellbeing, the repair and development of lasting family relationships and permanency.

The casework teams work closely with partner agencies in both the government and non-government sector, and the caseworkers are responsible for developing the team around the child and coordinating service provision.

**About you**

We are looking for a compassionate, courageous and resilient leader who is well organised with drive and passion to empower people and influence systems to improve the experiences and outcomes for children and families in NSW.

Metro ISS is a designated agency and you will lead your team to ensure adherence to the NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care, be responsible for the quality of casework and how it is evidenced and be an active participant in the process of quality improvement.

**The primary functions of this role are to**:

- **INSPIRE**: Lead, coach, mentor and empower your team to deliver concerted casework that respects the culture and context of every person we support
- **DEVELOP**: Create a team culture of continuous learning and professional development, ensuring practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence-based
- **RESPOND**:Make judgements on risk and prioritisation in complex and challenging situations and ensure a high standard of service is provided to children and families
- **PREPARE**: Undertake complex court work and prepare legal documentation, briefings and correspondence.
- **COLLABORATE**: Contribute to operational issues and change management strategies to support the agencies goals and objectives.

**Opportunities of this role**:

- Be part of broader Intensive Support Services system which includes including the Sherwood Program, the Central Access Unit the Elver Program and Burbangana (the DCJ /Taronga Zoo program)
- Lead a team of caseworkers with a capped caseload which allows for those practitioners to build therapeutic relationships and work intensively with children, families and their support network.
- Providing supervision and support to develop staff with different levels of experience
- Work with the Crown Solicitors Office for the preparation of and giving evidence in the NSW Supreme Court for matters relating to children with secure accommodation orders;
- Work across service systems for children and adults, as you lead practice in preparing and supporting young people leaving care and transitioning to adulthood.
- Build professional networks locally and across the state.

**Essential Requirements**

The Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 requires persons engaged in children related work to have Working with Children clearances.
- Tertiary qualifications in a Social Work, Psychology, Social Science Welfare or related discipline with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
- Current driver’s licence
- At least two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine
