**Your role**

In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will lead and supervise a team of Aboriginal caseworkers and work in collaboration with stakeholders to improve family functioning by providing services to vulnerable children, young people, and families.

**What you ll do**

You will manage, mentor and support these caseworkers in varied and possibly challenging circumstances. With your team you will improve outcomes for vulnerable Aboriginal children and their families, so we need your knowledge & experience to do this.

You will have the opportunity to:

- provide an Aboriginal perspective and advocate on behalf of Aboriginal people in the local communities.
- improve services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children, young people and families with a particular focus on preservation and restoration.
- build strong relationships with partner agencies both within the sector as well as other government agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections.
- use your cultural knowledge to help inform and shape service delivery.
- improve outcomes for vulnerable Aboriginal children and their families by using the SDM Restoration process and other tools to restore Aboriginal children to their families;
- empower your team to provide for the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal children through Aboriginal consultation, family finding, genealogy, cultural planning and other support services as required.

**What we re looking for**
- experience in leading and managing a team
- demonstrated understanding of setting up new processes and systems;
- confirmation of Aboriginality
- the ability to develop knowledge and links within the local communities
- a valid driver s licence
- Documented verification of Aboriginality.

The Department will accept proof of Aboriginality confirming the following:

- You are an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent.
- You identify as being Aboriginal; and

An acceptable form of documented verification is a Confirmation of Aboriginality? letter, provided to you by a local Aboriginal organisation that includes a common seal from that organisation.

It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants are fully vaccinated and able to provide acceptable proof of vaccination status.
