The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Finance & Stores Supervisor to provide a critical role at the Metropolitan Remand Centre.
**About the business unit**
The Corporate Governance and Support group supports the whole of the department to deliver positive outcomes for the community through responsive, reliable, and efficient corporate services. Our focus is on providing services that add value and are adaptable to business needs, while maintaining high standards and compliance.
As part of the Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, the Metropolitan Remand Centre is a 954 bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice and Community Safety.
**About the role**
The Finance and Stores Supervisor manages a team of corporate services staff within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility. The role oversees financial activities as well as stores and prisoner shop operations at the MRC, ensuring the Justice Officer workforce is properly skilled and trained to deliver quality corporate services functions to the location. The role is responsible for delivering key financial related projects including financial analysis and reporting to a high standard in a timely and accurate manner.
The role also requires a high degree of integrity, effective communication skills, an ability to resolve competing demands, problem-solving skills as well as an ability to monitor service delivery and compliance.
This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Agreement 2020.
Some of your duties will include:
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies, guidelines and operating procedures, including matching of documents, inputting data, reconciling, monitoring, reporting, financial returns and following up accounts matters as required for the Prison.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers, administrators, stakeholders and prison staff on relevant issues as required.
- Manage the finance, stores and canteen teams, including performance development, skills development and improvement and maintenance.
- Collect and provide statistical information, analyse, prepare reports, obtain quotes and prepare estimates for works and services as required.
- Manage financial expenditure in line with budget allocations.
- Ensure monthly financial processes are undertaken in line with departmental and regional policies and procedures.
