**The opportunity**:
CSIRO’s Marine National Facility (MNF) is looking for an experienced and motivated Science & Technical Coordinator to lead the readiness, maintenance, and strategic management of MNF’s scientific equipment and facilities. This critical role supports marine research by ensuring that laboratories, equipment, and operational capabilities align with the diverse needs of scientific projects.
Reporting to the Facilities Team Leader, the Science & Technical Coordinator will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage the lifecycle of scientific assets, support research voyage planning, and contribute to the long-term strategic development of MNF capabilities. Occasional travel may be required, including the opportunity to join voyages on RV Investigator in support of MNF operations.
**Your duties will include**:
- Oversee maintenance planning and compliance for scientific equipment and vessel assets, including inventory and lifecycle management.
- Support voyage planning by ensuring scientific equipment and facilities are operational, available, and aligned with research needs.
- Coordinate with contractors and internal teams to manage dry dockings, repairs, and upgrades, ensuring readiness and regulatory compliance.
- Lead the development and implementation of asset management and laboratory maintenance procedures.
- Provide technical advice and support to research teams during voyages, including the safe and effective use of scientific equipment.
- Contribute to reporting, collaboration, and continuous improvement in line with CSIRO’s values and operational standards.

**Salary**:AU$114,219 - AU$123,605 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) plus up to 15.4% superannuation

**To be considered you will need**:
**Essential**:
- Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed._
- Relevant trade certificate, diploma, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience in engineering, marine engineering, or project management.
- Demonstrated experience managing research assets and facilities, including coordinating complex logistics and prioritising multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proven ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders, customers, and team members, collaborating effectively to achieve shared goals.
- Sound understanding of risk assessment processes and workplace health and safety principles.
- Experience managing complex projects in dynamic environments, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and handle competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical or specialist information clearly and with influence.
- Experience in contract management and procurement, including developing market approach requirements and evaluating responses.
- Ability to meet medical requirements, including a pre-employment medical assessment.
**Desirable**:
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
