About the Business Unit
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is an independent statutory authority governed by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine Act 1985. It is part of the Justice portfolio of the Victorian Government. The work of the VIFM can be described as a cycle of three parts:

- Providing forensic medical & scientific services and tissue banking
- Learning from this work
- Researching and teaching.

The Director of the Institute holds the Chair of the Forensic Medicine at Monash University and the VIFM also operates as the Department of Forensic Medicine at Monash University. VIFM is based at the Coronial Services Centre which also houses the Coroners Court of Victoria.
This position is within the Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria. The Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria (DTBV) has been established by the VIFM to provide a central facility for the acquisition, processing, storage, and distribution of tissue (e.g. bone, skin, tendons, and heart valves) for transplantation. The source of this tissue is mainly from deceased donors whose death falls under the Coroner's Act, but also bone from patients undergoing hip replacement surgery.

About the Role
The Operations Manager position is a blend of production management to manage the tissue recovery, processing and distribution related operations of the DTBV with a customer focus to develop the service to meet surgeons' expectations. This position is responsible for managing the Scientists and Technicians engaged in these activities as well as supporting the Head of Service to promote service innovation and improvement. The Operations Manager provides leadership and positive promotion of quality management functions and activities, promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement with a view to excellence. The Operations Manager is expected to work cooperatively and proactively with the Quality Manager to ensure that the DTBV quality management framework is always adhered to and TGA licensing is maintained.

**Some of your duties may include**:

- Through strong communication, forward planning and management skills, oversee the day to day management of all activities associated with the retrieval, processing, storage and distribution of human tissue for transplantation and for approved development projects and implementation of new products. This will include ensuring continual service provision 24/7.
- Take responsibility for practice and process improvement and innovation and proactively implement initiatives through managed change control.
- Oversee and manage operations in accordance with quality assurance, relevant legislation, codes of practice, risk management principles, ethical standards, certification and licensing standards and requirements;
About You
To be successful at this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

- Significant experience in aseptic or sterile manufacture or tissue processing environments
- Experience in a senior leadership role in a high-quality healthcare production environment, in a TGA licensed facility.
- Proven ability to manage and motivate staff and ensure productivity.
- Demonstrated capability to identify, engage and build rapport through effective communication, developing collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including senior medical, scientific and business professionals to improve operational performance
