**About the Business Unit**:
The Victorian Law Reform Commission, established by the _Victorian Law Reform Commission Act_ _2000 _(Vic),is an independent, government-funded organisation, and the peak law reform body in Victoria. It reports to the Attorney-General and the Parliament of Victoria in discharging its statutory functions.

The Commission has a charter to facilitate community-wide consultation and to advise the Attorney-General on how to improve and update Victorian law. It makes recommendations for changes aimed at ensuring the legal system meets the needs and aspirations of the Victorian community.

The Commission's major responsibility is to undertake research and make recommendations on issues that are referred to it by the Attorney-General. Its recommendations are published in reports that are tabled in Parliament.

The Commission is committed to considered, timely, effective and inclusive law reform processes that give all members of the community the opportunity to express their views on areas of law that affect them.

**About the Role**:
Are you a communications all-rounder with great writing and editing skills? We are seeking a person with a broad skill set to shape and deliver strategic communications for Victoria's independent law reform body.

As the Communications Manager, some of your duties will include:

- Undertaking/managing the editing, proofreading, layout and production of all Commission publications, including managing supplier relationships with external editors, designers and printers
- Providing expert guidance and professional development to research teams on VLRC writing style, report structure and Plain English
- Developing, updating and implementing research project communications plans in collaboration with team leaders while initiating and implementing tailored communications strategies for projects, including channels such as video, online surveys, and content in a range of accessible formats.

**About You**:

- Excellent writing skills - with knowledge of plain English being essential. Experience running workshops for colleagues will also be highly regarded
- Demonstrated high-level experience in editing and publications management and production, and managing external suppliers
- Demonstrated media liaison experience, including the ability to prepare key messages and brief journalists on complex and sensitive issues as well as experience providing training and media briefings for senior executives.
