This is an identified First Nations position. To be eligible, applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and will be required to provide confirmation of Aboriginality as part of the recruitment process. About you
As the first person to step into this newly established role, your voice, experience, and leadership will set the tone for what’s possible. As Uniting’s First Nations Workforce Acquisition Lead, you’ll be instrumental in shaping our vision to grow a strong, supported, and sustainable First Nations workforce. You’ll work alongside Uniting’s Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning teams, and be supported by our First Nations Strategy & Outcomes unit.
This is your chance to drive change from day one to build programs, forge partnerships, and create culturally safe pathways that will have a lasting impact for years to come. In this influential role, you will:
- Partner with our Workforce Planning team to identify long terms gaps in the Uniting workforce that First Nations talent can support.
- Design and lead programs such as school-based traineeships, internships, and graduate pathways to increase our ability to attract First Nations talent to Uniting, building trusted relationships with educational institutions.
- Work with our Talent Acquisition team and hiring Managers to shape inclusive hiring strategies, build relationships with First Nations job networks, and ensure culturally safe recruitment practices.
- Proudly represent Uniting at employment events and collaborate with First Nations communities and organisations to drive workforce growth.
- Track employment outcomes, support Uniting’s First Nations employment goals, and provide insights that support the achievement of Uniting’s First Nations People & Place Strategy

What You’ll Bring
**We're looking for someone who brings**:
- This is an identified role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and will be required to provide confirmation of Aboriginality.
- Strong cultural knowledge and connections across First Nations communities
- 6+ years of relevant experience in HR, education, recruitment, workforce development, or community engagement
- The ability to influence without authority and inspire across complex organisations
- A passion for social impact and a drive to create real, meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, planning, and project delivery skills
**Bonus Points For**:
- Experience working in the community services or not-for-profit sector
- Tertiary qualifications in Education, HR, Business, or similar
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel across NSW and ACT
