**Join a leading healthcare services provider - This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Officer specialising in Drug and Alcohol services to enhance and expand their expertise**

**The Role**:
The Drug & Alcohol General Practitioner is a key member in the health service delivery to people in Immigration Detention. Your responsibilities include:

- Assess, diagnose and treat patients in relation to drug and/or alcohol use disorders, in addition to other GP related care
- Prescribe medications specific to the treatment of drug and/or alcohol use disorders and provide ongoing evaluation of these patients
- Provide immediate assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients in an emergency situation where necessaryProvide advice and education to nurses and allied health professionals as required
- Provide referrals and liaise with all parties involved in the medical management of patients with substance use disorders
- Authorised prescriber for patients on opioid treatment program

**Requirements**:

- Full unconditional AHPRA Registration
- Primary care and mental health management experience at a general practitioner level
- Fellowship of the RACGP or recognition as a General Practitioner
- Experience with electronic medical records and medical practice systems is highly desirable
- Live in Australia or New Zealand and have work rights in Australia
- Evidence of training and accreditation in prescribing for the treatment of opioid dependence or willing to obtain accreditation.
- Clinical experience in D&A patient management highly desirable.
