**Position Information**:
Merrylands Public School has a current enrolment of 595 students (including 11 Aboriginal/Torres St Islander students) and serves a diverse school community with 93% of students from a language background other than English and 15% of students with refugee backgrounds. The school is made up of 22 mainstream classes and five Support Classes catering for students with mild/moderate intellectual disability and Autism.The school has a well established Positive Behaviour for Learning approach to student wellbeing and embraces the Real Schools restorative strategies of student support. Teachers collaborate as a team; with curriculum & stage leaders, intervention and EAL/D support teachers and SLSOs to promote the development of each child as an individual & support academic growth and personal excellence across the curriculum. Students access a variety of extra-curricular activities including sports, creative & performing arts, debating and cultural activities. A variety of technology is available to all students in their classrooms and the school shares & celebrates learning with our families through online platforms. The school has strong positive partnerships between students, staff, parents/carers, external agencies and the wider community to promote the best possible outcomes for our students. We work together in an inclusive setting to ensure our students are safe, respectful and responsible learners.
**Selection Criteria**:
**1. Approval to teach Infants and Primary (K-6) with a demonstrated ability to inspire and engage students in quality differentiated learning programs incorporating numeracy, literacy and authentic integration of technology into learning.**
**2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and build positive relationships with students, staff and a diverse multicultural community.**
**3. Effective classroom management practices that contribute to a positive learning environment, enhance student wellbeing, and respond to students with additional learning/social/emotional needs.**
**4. Demonstrated capacity to contribute to whole school and extra curricular activities, in order to promote a positive culture within the school such as sport, creative/performing arts, public speaking and debating.**
