**The opportunity**:
We are currently seeking highly motivated Mining Health & Safety Manager to support the Mining Operations Director and the mining line management to implement and improve safety processes and practices that enables organizational objectives to be achieved. Create a forecast of evolving risk levels and facilitate action before harm occurs.

**About the Role / Key Responsibilities**
- Lead and improve the safety leadership improvement program within the mining sector;
- Lead the development and improvement of standards systems and processes.
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations to build capacity that enables operations to work in accordance with organisational management standards;
- Monitor and remedy deviations from management standards, sustainably reduce material risk and improve work processes that impact work safety;
- Facilitate the development and execution of company-wide security improvement initiatives in support of the business plan;
- Facilitate the development of security training and communications materials in support of the objectives;
- Provide thought leadership and evidence-based advice to operational teams;
- Proactively improve contractor safety management and engagement in mining;
- Establish systems to monitor and improve compliance with standards and recommend actions to improve;
- Anticipate future scenarios and facilitate the management of associated health and safety risks;
- Provide reports and insights on safety performance based on high-quality data;
- Facilitate major incident investigations and other learning processes;
- Ensure quality assurance, monitoring and improvement of incident investigations and other learning processes;
- Facilitate systems to improve the quality and rapid execution of actions resulting from audits, incident investigations and other safety improvement processes;
- Select, constitute, develop, supervise and lead a team of security advisors;
- Establish and improve team processes related to work planning, task assignment, progress monitoring and performance management;
- Manage expenses in accordance with the approved budget;
- Manage contracts in accordance with the organisational contract and business requirements.
- Liaise with government, community and industry stakeholders as required in accordance with the organisational compliance requirements.
- Establish and maintain strong and productive working relationships with internal customers and stakeholders;

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Have an advanced degree in the fields of safety, health, risks, engineering or a related discipline;
- Have at least 10 years of experience in the field of health and safety, including at least 5 years dedicated to large projects in the mining or processing industry;
- Have experience implementing health and safety management systems;
- Incident investigation training - i.e. ICAM, TapRoot, Essential Factors, Blueline;
- Management of critical risks and critical controls;
- Be trained in the ISO 140001 standard and in audits.
- Have a solid knowledge of contemporary security science and professional security practices.
- Minimum computer knowledge (advanced Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio);
- Strong critical, analytical and creative thinking skills;
- Ability to translate technical ideas into practical solutions;
