**About the Role**

Specialising in the conservation of 3D objects, with expertise in inorganic materials, you will leverage your industry knowledge to deliver postgraduate teaching programs of the highest calibre. In this role, you will primarily focus on teaching, dedicating 90% of your time to delivering high-quality education, with additional responsibilities in administration, service, and scholarship.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in advancing cultural materials conservation education while developing your career within a collaborative and innovative academic environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Setting up of seminars and laboratory practicals including access to collections, procurement of materials and maintenance of equipment for conservation treatments.
- Setting assessment tasks, coordinating assessment processes, and recording/reporting component and final results.
- Selection, consultation with, and supervision of tutors or seminar assistants (where applicable).

**Who We Are Looking For**
We are seeking a committed and engaging educator with experience teaching at the tertiary level, a commitment to inclusivity in student learning, and the ability to work collaboratively with students.

You will also have:

- A PhD in Cultural Materials Conservation or cognate field or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated strong record of teaching experience in a tertiary environment in a range of teaching delivery modes.
- Experience in managing and supporting staff and fostering an effective teaching team.
- Proven ability to work positively and cooperatively with students.

The School of Historical and Philosophical Studies (SHAPS) is a part of the Faculty of Arts and comprises of History, Philosophy, History and Philosophy of Science, Classics and Archaeology, The Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation and The Program in Jewish Culture & Society. SHAPS offers a wide range of classes in these disciplines and has an Honours, Masters by Coursework and postgraduate student cohort. This position resides in the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation and report to the Discipline Chair. The Grimwade Centre is a University of Melbourne Research Centre hosted by the Faculty of Arts.
