**Design at Lexicon**

We are a diverse team of Design Thinkers, strategists, experimenters, sense makers, creative all-rounders and pragmatic visionaries that design and build compelling products, experiences and businesses. We love to learn together, co-create and share in our successes, **whilst having fun in the process**.

We work cross-functionally with talented and passionate engineers, product and delivery managers to create progressive, innovative and sustainable solutions for our partners. The work is wide and varied from the transformation of existing products and experiences to discovering, designing and launching new products and businesses that make a difference in this world.

**The Opportunity**

The Design Manager will be instrumental in shaping the future of Lexicon Studios, bringing a passion for human-centred product design, and drive to leverage innovative ideas to build the digital businesses of the future.

In the first 12 months you will:

- **Build and cultivate the creative culture and practices of Studio**:develop and embed our design principles of excellence; help shape ways of working and advocate best practice for design service offerings, methods and tools; ensure the team are working towards clear, unified objectives.
- **Grow and lead a team of passionate Designers in our Core and Studio teams**:help our hiring efforts to grow our existing team of talented designers; foster a collaborative cross-functional culture; mentor and nurture the team to expand their skills, provide opportunities to showcase their work and deepen their impact on Lexicon service offerings.
- **Partner closely with the Head of Studios to grow the design portfolio and presence**: help shape the Studios strategy and operating model; develop and deepen relationships with our partners and new venture businesses; pitch design service offerings to potential new partners.
- **Build a community of Design thought leaders**:champion design at Lexicon and build an internal Innovation Guild for sharing and learning to constantly improve the way we think about and do our work.

**What we look for**
- You have strong strategic product design experience leading the kick-off and operations of an agile design team at consumer-facing companies.
- You are a seasoned facilitator who can lead strategic design and discovery workshops that bring out the best in everyone that participates.
- You’re a people leader that has spent 3+ years managing and mentoring people of all levels and are passionate about helping people realise their potential and motivating teams to work well together and effectively work towards achieving goals.
- Your design skills are exceptional, and from this, you champion the creation of fabulous, customer-oriented experiences through to high-fidelity standards.
- You’re passionate about human-centred design and have deep empathy for the user.
- You are a thought leader that advocates for design internally and externally.
- You’re a problem solver and critical thinker excited by a challenge and can balance strategic thinking with rapid execution.
- Creativity is your second name and you love bringing big-picture ideas into something tangible.
- You’re pragmatic and know when to be flexible and make tradeoffs or alter an approach to fit the needs of the team and project.
- You have excellent communication skills that allow you to talk clearly and confidently about our services and the ‘why’ behind design.
