**Who we are**
The Environment Information Australia (EIA) has been established to provide a trusted source of high-quality environment data and information for environmental decision making; and enable tracking and reporting on selected environmental conditions and trends to evaluate the effectiveness of our environmental protection and rehabilitation. EIA is central to the Government’s Nature Positive Plan in ensuring sustainable development and environment protection and rehabilitation through transparency, accountability and faster, clearer decision-making. Information held and curated by EIA will inform the decision-making of the independent Environment Protection Australia as well other departmental policy and programs. EIA works closely with private and public partners, including the wider Department, state and territory governments, First Nations partners, environment experts, academia, industry and other Commonwealth agencies.

Working in the Environment Data and Analysis Branch you will be part of a team that provides geospatial capability and supports the Department through the delivery of spatial data, analysis, and delivery of spatial products to support evidence-based policy and decision making.

The Decision Support & Analysis Section partners with divisions to support their programs and policies by providing advice and services, including the capture, development and delivery of geospatial information. Our goal is to help staff use the power of location to make better decisions.

**The Job**
We are looking for a dynamic highly motivated team leader who will:

- Lead a small multi-disciplinary team, assist with the capture, curation and analysis of spatial data for business areas within the department.
- Work closely with business units across the department to understand their policy and program needs for data and information.
- Design and deliver user centred tools, systems or processes that use spatial data to deliver products to support evidence based business outcomes
- Deliver a range of technical, complex and/or sensitive research projects that directly and immediately support the department’s analytical needs.
- Undertake project management, contract management and budget administration.

**Knowledge and experience**
- Highly developed skills in communication, negotiation, influencing and representation as well as a demonstrated experience in successfully managing a diverse range of stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to create a cooperative team environment and manage staff to deliver high quality outputs; maintain positive working relationships and facilitate the sharing of information with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and analyse complex issues, identify connections, consider options, and recommend and implement appropriate and timely solutions.
- Use initiative to proactively manage complex problems.
- Solid understanding and practical experience handling and using different types of data, including data with geospatial/temporal dimensions.
- Qualifications with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following:

- Geographic information systems
- Spatial analytics
- Remote sensing
- Data analytics and visualisation
- Python
- Demonstrated experience and or willingness to be agile in the workplace, foster a culture of positive organisational behaviour and build capability in a team environment through coaching others, providing performance feedback, conflict resolution and encouraging career development.

- Translate technical details and terminology into fit for purpose information, and ability to undertake and lead workshops, meetings and representative committees/working groups.
