
Interest Rate Risk Analyst

**About the Role**
The purpose of this role is to develop and implement models used to make decisions about risk management, investments and pricing opportunities for the Interest Rate Risk team within Treasury. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and will assist the development of structured data sets, reporting and documentation of process/controls.
Key Accountabilities
- The development, maintenance and documentation of multiple models that support the decision making process within Treasury. This includes analysing financial data, market trends and economic indicators to provide insights on interest rate risk, funding risk and liquidity risk.
- Development of data analytics tools to help forecast capital, low-cost deposits and behavioral analysis of the bank’s balance sheet.
- Assist the development of stress testing across the Treasury team as it relates to interest rate and liquidity risk.
- Development of economic models for interest rate risk to identify opportunities to improve trading and hedging within these books.
- Working closely with all members within the immediate department to create a harmonious environment.
- Engage and build constructive relationships across other business units within the bank such as Finance, Product and Risk.
- Understanding of the key BAU tasks within each area of Treasury.
**About you**
**Qualifications**:
- Tertiary qualifications in mathematics, statistics, actuarial sciences, economics, physics or engineering. Tertiary qualifications in IT and Finance are also advantageous.
Experience
- 2+ years in mathematical/statistical modelling. 2+ years in relevant programming languages (VBA, SQL etc)
- Experience from a financial institution is desirable.
Knowledge & Competencies
- Familiarity of financial markets instruments (Interest Rates, Fixed Income, Cash, Collateral, FX, Funding Markets).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as VBA and SQL.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Familiarity with the current Australian banking regulatory environment - such as liquidity, interest rate risk in the banking book.
- Strong analytical skills and problem solving ability.
