About the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority:
The Queensland Early Childhood Regulatory Authority is responsible for regulating the early childhood education and care sector. The Child Safeguarding team plays an important role within the Regulatory Authority to ensure the safeguarding of children against sexual abuse and misconduct in education and care services across Queensland.
The team carries a high volume of high-risk work, in a very responsive environment, with often pressing deadlines. The team must work together to concurrently progress project and case work, in a timely and sensitive manner. This makes the role of the AO4, in providing regulatory support, crucial to the team meeting performance objectives.
About the Role:
The Regulatory Support Officer will support the team's leadership staff with administration duties relating to the team's targeted response work, including:
Queensland's contribution to the national response to the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority's Child Safety Review
Queensland's continuing response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
Queensland's implementation of the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme.
The Regulatory Support Officer will also support the team's regulatory staff on a day-to-day basis by:
Assisting in the preparation of correspondence, including acknowledgement letters, requests for information, and invitations to interview
Assisting with responses to external requests for information, including freedom of information requests, media requests, and Ministerial requests
Assisting in the preparation of investigation documentation, including run sheets, evidence lists, and interview summaries
Registering incoming referrals to the team, and liaising with regional regulatory staff around preliminary inquiries
Escalating incoming matters to the Manager, Child Safeguarding as necessary
Keeping team work trackers up to date and monitoring the progress of team action items
File management and data entry in relevant regulatory systems, and producing reports from that data
Arranging appointments, meetings, travel and receiving visitors.
The role is based in Brisbane city and reports to the Director, Child Safeguarding. There will be opportunity to work flexibly, depending on operational requirements.
Applicants should be aware that in performing the duties and responsibilities of this role they will be required to engage with information and materials relating to allegations of child sexual abuse.
About You:
While experience in a comparative administrative role would be advantageous, also important will be your:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail
Initiative and problem-solving skills - ability to work independently to complete tasks to a high standard and in a timely manner
Positive attitude and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities
Understanding of government processes, policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory frameworks
Commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, and personal wellbeing.
