The NSW Reconstruction Authority is seeking a highly motivated Public Affairs Advisor to join our Communications and Engagement team. In this key role, you will provide expert media management and public affairs advice to stakeholders within the Authority, delivering strategic communications that enhance the reputation of both the NSW Reconstruction Authority and the NSW Government.

**About the Role**

The NSW Reconstruction Authority is seeking a highly motivated Public Affairs Advisor to join our Communications and Engagement team. In this key role, you will provide expert media management and public affairs advice to stakeholders, helping to maintain and enhance the reputation of the RA and the NSW Government.

Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting the development and delivery of media strategies and policies.
- Preparing media and social media materials that address key issues and promote the Authority’s work.
- Assisting with government announcements, speeches, and briefings.
- Creating and delivering digital content across various channels to engage the public.
- Supporting public awareness and safety campaigns that educate and inform communities.
- Coordinating media events, launches, and public relations campaigns.
- Advising staff on media engagement in line with organisational policies.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitoring and analysing content performance to enhance future communication efforts.

**About You**

You're an experienced communications professional with a strong background in media relations, journalism, or public relations. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are confident creating content for a variety of platforms, including traditional media, social media, and digital channels.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Proven experience supporting communication and media teams in deadline-driven environments.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to develop high-quality media materials.
- Experience handling media enquiries and working directly with journalists.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to contribute to public awareness campaigns and content development.
- The ability to provide clear advice to internal stakeholders and build strong working relationships across government, media, and the community.
- Your collaborative approach, sound judgment, and commitment to public service make you an ideal fit for this impactful and rewarding role.

Essential requirements:

- Tertiary qualifications in journalism, media, communications or public relations and other relevant media-based experience and/or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in media relations, journalism or public relations.
- Strong writing skills.
- After hours, on call and weekend work is required on occasion.

**About the Agency**

The NSW Reconstruction Authority (the Authority) is a statutory corporation within Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. The Authority will improve how NSW plans for disasters and help communities to recover from them faster.

To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, NGOs, businesses, and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities, and other stakeholders.
