Stantec is a world leader in environmental management in mining, in addition to our engineering, asset management, transportation and energy and technology services.
Our Mine Closure and Geosciences Team comprises environmental scientists, mine closure planners and geoscientists with substantial experience. We have a comprehensive pipeline of projects primarily within the Pilbara and Goldfields of Western Australia, as well as across Australia into Queensland and Victoria. We actively engage globally with Stantec mine closure and restoration experts, and locally with State Government regulators and researchers.
Joining the Stantec Mine Closure and Geosciences Team, you will carry out the following:
- \tProvide technical leadership and support to the team and broader business
- \tPrepare mine closure plans, including critical review of feasibility of implementation.
- \tDevelop and co-ordinate technical studies to inform landform design, management of mine tailings, rehabilitation planning including analysis of soil or geochemical data.
- \tUndertake site-visits to provide advice to our clients on geoscience and closure aspects, and rehabilitation planning.
- \tPrepare clear, concise technical reports.
- \tPrepare proposals, budgets, and tender documents.
- \tDevelop and maintain client relationships.
- \tYou will also have the opportunity to expand your knowledge across various disciplines (terrestrial ecology, mine rehabilitation, remote sensing and environmental approvals), and undertake training and development to drive your career progression.
To be successful in the role you will need:
- \tTertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Soil Science, Geochemistry, Geology, Environmental or Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline.
- \tA minimum of 5 years professional experience directly relevant to the role, with an environmental consultancy or mining company.
- \tWorking knowledge of international closure standards and guidelines as well as state-based Australian environmental legislation and policies.
- \tExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including highly-developed technical reporting skills.
- \tWell-developed skills in coordination of multidisciplinary studies in mine closure planning, geochemistry, mine and rock tailings management, or landform design and rehabilitation.
- \tExperience in ArcGIS will be highly regarded.
- \tAbility to work well in a team environment.
