Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Presentation and Facilitation Training Expert for a two-year period of performance, “Presentation and Facilitation Workshops,” funded by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented for the Diplomatic Academy in Canberra, Australia. DI seeks an experienced and dynamic Presentation/Facilitation Training Expert to design and deliver a series of high-impact, tailored training programs focused on Presentation Skills and Facilitation Skills. Over the duration of the engagement, up to 40 standalone workshops will be delivered in-person - 20 Presentation Skills Workshops and 20 Facilitation Skills Workshops. Each workshop must incorporate DFAT-specific content, align with the Academy’s curriculum areas (including foreign policy, trade and development, and corporate topics), and be relevant to participants' professional contexts. The workshops will be interactive and competency-based, designed to improve DFAT personnel's ability to effectively deliver presentations and facilitate discussions across a variety of professional settings. This role is key in supporting the Academy’s mission to build capability across the Australian Government’s international network. **This will be a consultancy based in Australia within reasonable travel distance to Canberra, Australia and will be contingent on award and funding.** **_Essential Job Duties_** The position’s **responsibilities**will include: - Design and customize workshop content for Presentation Skills and Facilitation Skills workshops to reflect DFAT-specific contexts, audiences, and professional communication environments. - Deliver up to 20 full-day workshops per year (10 per workshop type) in-person to cohorts of up to 14 participants. - Prepare and submit detailed workshop outlines, including agendas, session topics, and learning outcomes, in advance of each delivery. - Develop and submit resource materials, including pre-reading and multimedia content to support learning outcomes. - Coordinate pre-workshop requirements, including issuing instructions to participants to prepare a work-related presentation or facilitation task. - Collect and analyze learner feedback via DFAT’s Learning Management System (Lumi), and revise content to reflect insights for continuous improvement. - Ensure all materials and content align with the Commonwealth Supplier Code of Conduct and DFAT’s values and communication standards. **_Qualifications_** - Bachelor’s degree in education, organizational development, human resources, psychology, communications, or similar field required. Master’s degree preferred. - At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in designing and delivering professional training programs in Presentation and Facilitation Skills, particularly for government or diplomatic personnel. - Proven ability to create tailored, interactive training content aligned to organizational goals and participant roles. - Expertise in both in-person and virtual delivery methods and tools, including best practices for remote engagement. - Strong understanding of adult learning principles and performance-based training methodologies. - Demonstrated ability to collect and integrate participant feedback to continuously improve training content and delivery. - Experience managing workshop logistics and reporting, including the preparation of agendas, resource materials, and evaluation data. - Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups and senior-level stakeholders. - Willingness and ability to travel to Canberra for coordination meetings and in-person workshop delivery as required. - Familiarity with the DFAT Diplomatic Academy and its training priorities, including foreign policy, development policy, trade, and corporate capability areas preferred. - Experience working within or alongside Australian government departments or similar institutional settings preferred. **_Reporting_** - The Presentation and Facilitation Training Expert reports to DI’s Director of Program Management. **_Application Process_** **_About the Organization_** - DI provides technical assistance, analytical services and project implementation for democracy, human rights, governance and conflict mitigation programs worldwide for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. State Department and other development partners.
