**About our opportunity**

Due to the rapid growth and demand within our region, we are seeking an additional Access and Inclusion Officer to join our Community Facilities Planning team.

This will be a rewarding opportunity to lead the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives which guide the design, delivery and ongoing operation of Council infrastructure and services, so that people of all abilities in the Moreton Bay Region have equal access to opportunities and can enjoy a vibrant lifestyle. This will be achieved through:

- Providing technical accessibility advice, resources and services (e.g. access audits) to promote stakeholder awareness of access and inclusion issues and trends and to guide the design, delivery and ongoing operation of community infrastructure and services to meet and exceed minimum legislative requirements.
- Leading the development and implementation of operational initiatives which respond to access and inclusion issues and trends.
- Contributing towards the development, implementation and periodic review of relevant policies and planning frameworks.
- Maintaining a comprehensive working knowledge of industry best practice and relevant legislation, codes and standards, such as the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, Disability (Access to Premises - Buildings) Standard 2010, National Construction Code, and the suite of Australian Standards of Access and Mobility (e.g. AS 1428.1-2009)

Whilst undertaking these services, you will regularly travel around our region to conduct site visits and engage with internal and external stakeholders.

**About you**

We’re looking for a motivated and passionate individual with sound experience in Access Consulting. Ideally, you will have:

- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and planning frameworks as they relate to the responsibilities identified in the role.
- Demonstrated applied knowledge of statutory, compliance, and best practice frameworks related to the effective management of access and inclusion issues within a local government context.
- High level of skill in conceptual and innovative problem solving, analysis and assessment in order to deliver a range of solutions to meet customer needs.
- A sound understanding of the economic, political and social influences relating to the local government environment.

A Certificate IV in Access Consulting or Qualifications in Social Sciences of Urban Planning are considered highly desirable.

- $94, 194+ super (up to 12%) + leave loading
- 72.5 hour fortnight
- 9 day fortnight
