**About the organisation**
Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by maximising the ability of the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of communities to plan for, withstand, respond to and recover from emergencies. Led jointly by the Chief Executive and the Emergency Management Commissioner, EMV drives the development and implementation of policy, strategy, operational coordination, consequence management and planning across Victoria's emergency management sector, contributing to safer, more resilient communities.
**About the role**
The Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC) leads emergency management in Victoria, focusing on improving operational capability and interoperability under the Emergency Management Act 2013. The EMC ensures control arrangements for emergency responses and coordinates efforts before, during, and after major emergencies. The role includes overseeing emergency management planning, fostering community partnerships, and liaising with the Commonwealth Government. The EMC keeps the Minister informed about potential and actual major emergencies and responses.
