**About the role**:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will support clients in a range of settings including the home, outdoors, school, workplace, healthcare facilities, gym, shopping centres etc. Each client will have their own unique needs and goals which means your work will be wonderfully diverse and you will need to customise your approach to best support the individual whilst working in accordance with their plan.

**Specific duties may include**:

- Accompanying and supporting the client on various outings to increase social and community access and participation
- Providing companionship to clients who are socially isolated
- Supporting clients with home administration (e.g., paying bills, making appointments, assistance with the use of technologies etc.)
- Introducing, encouraging, and participating in activities that support the client's goals, strengthen skills, and provide enjoyment (e.g., gardening, cooking, painting, reading, gaming, listening to music, art and craft, dancing, board games, Lego etc.)
- Consulting with families, carers, and allied health teams to optimally support the client; you may support the implementation of therapeutic interventions where appropriate.

**About you**:

- Degree in psychology, social work, disability studies, community services, welfare, or related field
- Certificate IV in Mental Health, or related field
- Experience as a mental health support worker or disability support worker, or related
- Comfortable working autonomously and independently, professional, dependable, friendly, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to adapt your approach to suit the individual you are working with, patient, genuine desire to help others and make a meaningful difference.
