Our client is Australia’s largest specialist manufacturer and distributor of flexible packaging and associated products servicing the agricultural, industrial and food service industries.
They are seeking a Plant Manager to lead the entire business unit and fast paced site in Melbourne's Northern Suburbs. This is an exciting and varied position responsible for practical, technical, and strategic leadership of a $40 million manufacturing operation and managing a team of 50.
This is a generalist role overseeing many areas of the business unit, with the chance to join an experienced and passionate team with a positive, supportive company culture.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead daily operations of fast paced 24/5 manufacturing site
- Ensure safety and efficiency across all divisions of the facility
- Monitor & report on plant processes and production performance
- Ensure operational compliance to ISO & HACCAP standards
- Oversee maintenance program for facility machinery
- Cost control and P&L responsibility
- Implement & maintain WHSE measures across the business
- Overseeing procurement of raw materials used in production
- Commercial focus and providing quality product & service delivery for customers
Key competencies include:
- Manufacturing management experience essential
- Collaborative, supportive and hands on leadership
- Understanding of mechanical engineering systems
- Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Practice of LEAN methodology
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants
- Generalist with exposure to customers, supply chain, procurement, financials, distribution and logistics
- Strong communication skills
- Problem solving abilities
- Proficient with MS Office & MS 365
