**About this Opportunity**

As the Stakeholder Engagement Advisor, you will provide strategic policy advice combined with proactive and tactical excellence in external stakeholder engagement. You will help to secure competitive advantage for the business and will play an important role in championing Yarra Trams’ success with government and other key stakeholders.

You will support deepening engagement with government and industry bodies to achieve outcomes advancing Yarra Tram’s interests. You will also support the Corporate Affairs team more broadly with other aspects of government, stakeholder and policy issues that affect the business and its ability to be its most successful. This includes responding to media enquiries as part of a team roster arrangement.

Your areas of focus will be:

- Providing strategic advice and supporting the development and delivery of stakeholder engagement strategies to enhance relationships with key partnerships and advance the business’ agenda
- Facilitating high quality communications and stakeholder engagement activities, including support for Yarra Tram engagement at external conferences, award nominations and events promoting Yarra Trams’ thought leadership
- Monitoring relevant political, policy and sector developments and keeping internal stakeholders up to date on risks and opportunities
- Ensuring that the design of any narrative, as well as action, with government is one designed to build both trust in Yarra Trams and its broader reputation
- Supporting senior leadership external engagement, including development of messaging.

**About you**

We are looking for an experienced and driven person with knowledge of current public transport and political issues and advanced stakeholder engagement experience.

Ideally, you will have experience in a similar role gained in either a Government and/or in-house environment. You will have experience in and have a contemporary awareness of trends in reputation management.

You must have exceptional communication skills, including capacity to prepare high quality briefs, talking points and correspondence in support of stakeholder outreach.

You will be an effective collaborator with the innate ability to cultivate strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders of the business, together with:

- Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline (including public policy, politics or communications)
- A working knowledge of State politics
- An understanding of topical and emerging public affairs issues
- Creativity, and the ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Experience in media will be advantageous.
