The Western Metro Homelessness Service is the Entry Point to services for the Brimbank Melton catchment. The primary service site is home to a variety of programs from homelessness, family violence and community streams.

Why this role matters

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive IAP Worker to provide an immediate crisis response to those experiencing homelessness and assessing those at risk of homelessness and provide referrals to address their complex needs.

The role you could play
- Provide high-level initial support to those experiencing homelessness and the related stresses by conducting thorough assessments, referrals and housing-related information
- Allocate, monitor and review resources to those on the prioritization waiting list
- Source crisis accommodation for those in primary need

Reporting to the Access Point Coordinator, this is a permanent part-time position 30.4 hours per week located at Sunshine.

What we’re looking for
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army
- Previous experience working within the homelessness sector or a keen interest to develop a career in the homelessness sector
- Preferred Certificate III or Diploma of Community Services
- Demonstrates knowledge of homelessness including context, causes, issues, philosophies and legislation
- Understands and applies homelessness models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients
- Ability to understand and respond to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in AustraliaAbout The Salvation Army Homelessness Service
